OVERVIEW

Ecolabo is an eCommerce platform I’ve developed with a friend to raise awareness on the impact of our consumption, because we feel that an informed consumer can change the world. Through our website and social media, we support and promote ethical brands, products and ideas for a more mindful, natural way of living. I have designed and built the website on Shopify.

⏤ 01 THE PROBLEM

A time consuming mission

Our deepest wish was to combine our love for beautiful objects and sustainability. But there was one difficulty : finding the right brands to buy from is very time consuming.

On top of that, we felt like ethical products were often associated with unattractive attributes, reflecting a poor image. We really wanted to change this and show people that there was a better alternative with good aesthetics.

⏤ 02 THE CHALLENGE

Shaping the concept

We took so much time figuring out exactly what we wanted our concept to be and how to translate it. It took us months to put everything together, from the branding to the structure of the website. Before building our platform, we aimed to grow a small community from our target audience.

One step at a time

We decided to start with an Instagram page and took it from there. This really helped us shape our message as well as our identity as a brand.

It was also very motivating to see all of the positive feedback. From there, we really began to think about the structure of our website. We’ve been working on growing our community and on bringing our idea to life ever since.

Small changes create great impact

The idea of a laboratory of eco-friendly experiments came to our mind. We want to help people find responsible products the easy way, and to inspire people to buy better and switch to greener alternatives in every area of their life. So we created a Shopify eCommerce with 5 categories ⏤fashion, beauty, food, objects and homeware. For us, the curation of products in each of these categories was the answer to the pain of time that users were faced with.
